Rinstrum Solar Projects

Solar power holds a prominent place as an alternative and renewable form of energy and is a widely discussed and researched. We at Rinstrum have been involved in several solar power projects.

10 years ago Rinstrum was a part of the team that built the Arrow 1 Solar Car. It competed in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, a 3000km race from Darwin to Adelaide through outback Australia.

Additionally, we partnered with the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge providing scales to weigh the solar cars. Rinstrum’s portable weighing solution used an R423 programmable indicator running a Lua app that communicates with four planar beam load cells placed on the ground atop which the vehicles will park to be weighed. It provides accurate, easy and consistent weighing for vehicles at any point during the race.

The main photo is one of our dynamic axle scales – axleWEIGHr where the console is powered by solar. The in-motion axle scale weighs your trucks as they roll across the scale and provides a printed ticket with an axle by axle weights.

We will continue to enhance our smart weighing technology to be compatible with renewable energy sources and help create awareness on the potential of alternative sustainable energy sources.
